Phase 1, Post 2: Maker Space

When I got accepted into Tandon, the Maker Space seemed to be one of the focal points of the university as it encapsulates a sense of innovation and creativity. I first toured the space during weekend on the square and later for EG lab. The tour guide takes you around the area as you visit different stations and equipment. The most anticipated part of the tour is probably the 3D printer as it is one of today's coolest innovations, especially to someone who goes to engineering school. Personally, my favorite piece of equipment in the the Maker Space is the laser cutter as it is the amalgamation of both raw materials and technologically advanced machinery. I also really happen to like the smell of the burnt wood. The Maker Space provides a space in which students can be creative and really apply the engineering skills that they learn in class in a much more tangible way.

Some examples of what students have used the laser cutter for.
