Phase 1: Post 11- Midterm Progress

Updated: Mar 14, 2019

Our group has a few ideas for potential iterations on our prototype. For one, we are considering implementing a joystick-like-pop socket that will control the movement of the cursor and the clicking. This idea us being considered as it will allow us to submit a more accurate prototype of what we want the product to do. However, this will take away the software aspect of the prototype as we would no longer need the app. We want to still implement the idea of the app and the bluetooth mouse attachment that will go onto your phone, however, it makes its a lot more complex and would leave us with more of a works-like prototype than a works-like and looks-like one.

The larger social issue that our prototype aims to address is the idea that society is moving away from full use of our senses as we move toward a more compactly digital world. Our products seeks to revolutionize the traditional hand-held computer mouse and so that we can go back to interacting with our technology in a more physical and precise sense. All while still catering to societies desire for convenient technology.

How are diversity, inclusion, and identity related to this issue?

For one, this product aims to make hand-held mouses more accessible to people of socio-economic backgrounds. It is not targeted only to people in higher paying occupations or entities, rather is seeks to give everyone: students, teachers, coders, artists a more convenient and affordable way to interact with their technology.
